A sport often played recreationally but can also be competitive. The rules are simple, take a ball of your choice of weight ranging between 5 and 25 pounds and try to knock down the 10 pins at the end of the alley. The lane has two gutters on each side, if the player rolls the ball into the gutter, they will score no points. Most of the time for beginners, rails are put up to prevent gutter balls as it is very common for inexperienced players. All players have two attempts to knock down all ten pins for a total of 10 frames. Each pin knocked down will count as one point. A spare is when the player knocks all 10 pins down within two attempts. An example of this is 2 pins knocked down then 8 or 5 pins knocked down then 5. It is recorded as a /. A strike is when all ten pins are knocked down in the first attempt, it is recored with an X. Spare and strikes are the most desirable outcome as they have special rules when it comes to scoring. When a player scores a spare, the 10 points earn will also add the total of the next score, For example, if a player score a spare then score a 6 then a gutter, their score will be 22: (10+6)+6+0 or if a player score a spare then a gutter then a six, their score will be 16: (10+0)+0+6. Like a spare, a strike will add the next two score to its score. For example, if a player score a strike then a 5-5 spare, their score will be 30: (10+5+5)+5+5. Also if strikes are scored back to back it can earn a max of 30 points per frame:(10+10+10). Because of this, a perfect score of only strikes will result in a total score of 300 which is the highest possible score any player can get.
